“Combined with Chinese Drama, Wuda, Yangge and other performing
arts, the White-haired Girl is growing up as a child.”
says Mrs. CHEN Daihui, one of the choreographers of the White-haired
Girl. After the White-haired Girl's tour, the production will
be performed in Shanghai on August 26. At the invitation of Shanghai
Ballet some dancers and choreographers of the first generation came
to the studio and gave some guide to the dancers.
In the two hour’s rehearsal, Mrs. CHEN was so cautious that she wouldn’t miss a detail. YU Xiaowei, who dances the leading role in the show tells the reporter, “The style of Mrs. CHEN who cares more about the story is different from that of Mrs. XIN Lili, Artistic Director of Shanghai Ballet.”
During the interview, Mrs. CHEN says the dancers’ techniques are much better than before but the dancers are weak in interpreting the inner roles. “Since the time is different, the dancers of new generation can’t grasp the essence of the role.” Talking of the Chinese Ballets which can be counted, Mrs. CHEN sighs with emotion,”We are now lacking of choreographers. In recent years, the companies always introduce in some foreign choreographers but we neglect to cultivate native choreographers.”
