Hundreds of Cheongsam Have Tricks

The design pictures for cheongsams were displayed one by one, and the drafting picture for Shi Ku Men in 1930s-1940s’ Shanghai was just revealed. …The creation team has gathered together to discuss about the old Shanghai’s love story, old popular songs and special design of cheongsams.

Cheongsam is not separable for a 1930s-1940s’ Shanghai story. Stage and costume designer Jerome Kaplan has worked with Zhang Yimou in the ballet: Raise the Red Lantern. He has his own understanding and experience about how to use cheongsams in ballet. He said that he has already designed more than one hundred cheongsams, five for the heroine. … His cheongsams all have tricks inside with higher vent and overlapping front and back cloths, dancers will have no obstacles to do movements.… (Youth Daily)
